On Thursday 9 December, the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe will host another popular Family Information Day. Organised by Bournemouth Borough Council, the event aims to ensure local families are receiving all the support they need, and are entitled to.
The event will be held outside Peacocks at the Sovereign Centre between 9am and 4pm.
There will be a number of services at the event which have never been before including:
• Change 4 Life - healthy eating tips and recipes, and fun ways to exercise
• Beavers & Scouts – find out about your local group
• Parenting practitioners – providing useful parenting advice
• Bournemouth Affordable Warmth Partnership – advice on keeping warm during the cold winter months
The Council will also be offering advice on housing, childcare, education/training opportunities and employment (including CV writing tips). Other organisations on hand to help include the Citizen's Advice Bureau, the Butterfly Foundation, and the Council's Children's Information Service.
Children will be kept entertained with face painting and Christmas craft activities.
Julian Sandy of the Borough Council’s Early Years Service said, “We having been doing these at the Sovereign Centre for the last three years and they get even more popular each time. We would like to thank the Sovereign Centre for all their support in making this event so successful, linking families to much-needed services. Last year alone we received over 2500 enquiries during our information day at the Centre.”
