Mrs Rochester with Mia McFadden (7), Southbourne Cllr & Mrs Rochester with 'It's Got to be Bournemouth'
On Saturday 22nd October The Worshipful The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth Councillor and Mrs Chris Rochester joined hundreds of residents, guests and visitors at the Sovereign Centre as they officially launched the Sovereign Centre’s public display of the ‘Pride in Bournemouth’ Lions: ‘Rex’, ‘Ford Robot’, ‘Fireworks’ and ‘It’s got to be Bournemouth’.
The Mayor and Mayoress mingled with the crowds and chatted to guests, families and friends of the Centre while admiring the 'pride' assembled from the recent 'Pride in Bournemouth' lion event. The Centre had successfully bid for four of the lions at the recent auction at the Bournemouth Pavilion and helped the event raise over £75,000 for local charities, Julia's House and the Born Free Foundation. Added to this, the purchase of 'It's Got to be Bournemouth' raised funds for the Flt Lt Jon Egging Trust.
The Centre had also arranged for free facepainting for the kids and the Mayor and Mayoress enjoyed seeing a new 'pride' of cubs having fun throughout the Centre. The Centre raised an additional £30.00 for the Flt Lt Jon Egging Trust and will soon have a permanent donation box on the 'It's Got to be Bournemouth' Lion plinth.
The Mayor and Mayoress were joined at the launch by representatives from the Centre's contractors which supply the Centre's essential services, including Mitie, Guarding UK, Fallow Management and A&E Services whose generous donations made the purchase of the lions at the recent charity auction possible.
